Kathy McGilvray

Kathy joined OppCo as our CEO in March 2023. Kathy previously served as the Director of Investment for Massachusetts Housing Investment Corporation (MHIC), a non-profit specializing in the financing of affordable housing and community development projects throughout New England. Kathy joined MHIC in 2003 as an asset manager and transferred to the development department in 2005.  Kathy lead the acquisitions and underwriting team at MHIC for over seven years, overseeing the deployment of $150-$200+ million in project financing annually.   

Prior to MHIC, Kathy worked as an auditor for Coopers & Lybrand where she had healthcare, financial services, bio-tech and non-profit clients, and worked for a physician practice management company at which she was responsible for conducting the financial analyses for physician practices looking to join the company.  She was also Director of Financial Reporting for an internet commerce company, Fatbrain.com, which she brought through an Initial and Secondary Public Offering. 

Kathy is a member of the Citizens’ Housing and Planning Association Board of Directors and Finance Committee. She was a member of the Somerville Community Corporation Board of Directors (2/2015-2/2023), where she served in a variety of roles, including President, Treasurer and Clerk.  She previously served on the Board of Trustees (7/2012 – 6/2019) and the Executive, Finance, Audit & Compliance, and Population Health Committees of the Cambridge Health Alliance, a health system comprised of community hospitals and clinics throughout Boston’s metro-North.  Kathy holds a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government and graduated from Tufts University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and American Studies.
