Opportunity Communities was founded in 2018 by Nuestra Comunidad and The Neighborhood Developers as a joint venture limited liability company. OppCo began expanding its membership in 2022 by welcoming North Shore CDC as a third member.

Founded in 2011 through a merger of Salem Harbor CDC (founded in 1978) and the Beverly Affordable Housing Coalition.
