Building communities of opportunity

Opportunity Communities drives better results by unlocking the potential of our members to create equitable communities.

Confronting housing discrimination

Homeownership is the way that most US families build economic security and create intergenerational wealth, yet racial discrimination has severely limited options for people of color. Public policies and private actions have contributed to stark racial inequality in homeownership and wealth. Our Homes for Equity initiative seeks to correct that imbalance.

The collaborators of Homes for Equity - OppCo, Nuestra Comunidad Development Corporation, and the Massachusetts Affordable Housing Alliance (MAHA) - are hosting a free, two-part series, The Past is Not Past: Confronting the Legacy of Housing Discrimination in Roxbury. Join us as we share the stories gathered from the lived experiences of Roxbury residents and discuss how to make it right in the community.

FEAHD supports greater diversity in the field of affordable housing development

The first Fellowship cohort is underway! Fellows are serving at seven CDCs across Massachusetts, and each month they get together at a different host CDC for a peer site visit. Research by NeighborWorks America shows that the more cohesive a cohort is, the greater their success, and we’re thrilled to say that these incredible women are on their way!
